Successful Defense Against $6 Million Claim in Auto Negligence Case

Jeremy Chevres, who works in both our Miami and Ft. Myers offices, defended a UIM carrier in an auto negligence case trial in Sarasota County, Florida before Judge Stephen Walker. The Plaintiff underwent an SI Joint fusion and lumbar fusion, with a recommendation for a third fusion. Plaintiff’s past medical bills totaled nearly $500,000 with future medical bills estimated around $200,000. Additionally, Plaintiff presented a multi-million dollar life care plan. In closing, Plaintiff’s counsel asked the jury for over $6 million.

The jury returned a verdict of $385,000 for past medical bills, awarded $0 for future medical bills, found no permanency thus awarded $0 for pain and suffering, and awarded $0 for the loss of consortium claim.
