November 3, 2020
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Presenters: Jarred Dichek, Diana Castiov Weller (Kennedys), Paul Juster (Assurant), Jennifer Newell (FedNat Insurance Company)
This presentation will begin with the basics of what social media is and how it can be used to assist in an investigation, including statistics on the importance of social media in business and every-day life. We will introduce three actual case scenarios to the attendees and discuss what technology is available for use by SIU employees, adjusters and attorneys and how technology can help determine coverage relating to the claims discussed. This course is helpful to SIU employees to broaden their investigative tools and abilities. It is also helpful to the litigation adjusters as they will learn what evidence obtained pre-suit and through investigation is admissible at summary judgment and trial. Finally, the course is helpful to attorneys via discussions of the admissibility of social media evidence and what steps may be taken to erase social media evidence once a claim is submitted.
