Jury Rejects Plaintiff’s Demand for Uninsured Motorist Coverage Limits; Judgment Entered in Favor of UM Insurer-Defendant

Jared Brownfield, of our Tallahassee office, secured a trial win in an Uninsured Motorist (“UM”) coverage case.  The plaintiff was attending a driver safety class in Atlanta when the vehicle he was driving was rear-ended. Throughout litigation, including during the trial, plaintiff’s counsel demanded the full $500,000 in UM limits. After four hours of deliberation, the jury awarded the plaintiff a total of $17,000. Following a setoff for the $25,000  paid by the at-fault driver’s liability insurer, this will result in a defense judgment.
