When children imagine their heroes, they often think of those with superpowers who save the day. But for Jared Brownfield, the figures who impressed him most are not the ones donning capes or tights — they carried briefcases and wielded arguments in courtrooms.
Born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jared found early inspiration in the sharp-witted lawyers depicted in books and movies. These characters embodied justice, intellect, and courage, and they left a lasting impression. His admiration grew when he met real-life litigators who showed him that the stories he admired were rooted in truth. The work of these “justice heroes”
wasn’t just about dramatic victories; it involved grit, complexity, and relentless determination. At the end of the day, what drew Jared’s passion to the profession was the intellectual challenge, the chance to advocate for others, and the opportunity to be of something larger than himself. Safe to say, he accepted that challenge.
Jared’s journey was not a straight path though. After leaving Oklahoma, he lived in Missouri and ultimately, Florida. Throughout the years, a career in law was always on his mind, but life had other plans. After completing his degree in Business Administration from Flagler College, he felt that the workforce was calling his name, so he kicked off his career at Citi Bank. Though he’s grateful for his time there, it wasn’t as fulfilling as he hoped and the rough financial climate at this time propelled him toward his dream of becoming an attorney. Reflecting on this phase, Jared sees it as a lesson in timing and resilience.
“Sometimes the path to your goals isn’t as straightforward as you expect, but those detours often provide perspective and motivation. When I eventually started law school, I brought with me the professional experience and determination I’d gained along the way, which have since shaped how I approach my career as an attorney.”
Fast forward to today, Jared is thriving in civil litigation defending complex claims involving personal injury, personal liability, and trucking. He is particularly proud of how he analyzes risk and builds solid defense strategies. According to him, “litigating cases as a defense attorney requires a strategic approach—whether it’s analyzing policy language, investigating claims thoroughly, or working to settle cases efficiently.” He prides himself on prioritizing attention to detail and anticipating opposing arguments — two qualities that have landed him in numerous successful results. But for him, the real reward isn’t necessarily a single verdict or settlement, but rather the trust his clients place in him.
Jared attributes much of his growth to the guidance of mentors who instilled in him the values of “preparation, perseverance and approaching every case with a balance of confidence and humility.” He reminisces on the privilege of being surrounded by individuals in and out of the legal industry that left an impression on him, yet he reveals that he is most grateful to his “Kubicki Draper family” for the continued mentoring he has experienced throughout his time with the firm. Now, as a mentor himself, he aims to pass on those lessons. The willingness his mentors demonstrated to challenge and encourage him to think critically and refine his arguments is something he strives to emulate with his mentees.
Balancing life as an attorney, mentor, and father comes with its challenges. Jared acknowledges that litigation is inherently adversarial, but the toughest challenges “are rooted in people dynamics rather than purely legal issues.” By staying level-headed and purpose-driven, Jared has honed his ability to navigate complex situations. His commitment to his clients is unwavering, promising
them strategic thinking, clear communication, and practical advice. He understands that insurance companies and their insured need to resolve claims in a way that minimizes exposure, so he works tirelessly to protect those interests.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jared is most proud of his role as a father to his two daughters, who he says keep him humble. Outside of work, Jared enjoys fishing with family and friends,
exploring outdoors, and playing the saxophone. Always drawn to the ocean, he dreams of taking his family to Hawaii one day.
Through it all, Jared lives by a Winston Churchill quote: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Whether in the courtroom, at home, or on a fishing trip, Jared embodies the resilience and dedication of a true hero – no cape required.
