Defense Verdict in Veterinary Case

Michael Carney and Victoria Lopez of our Ft. Lauderdale office and Samuel Lea, of our Orlando office, secured a complete defense verdict after a week-long trial in Key West. The case involved multiple claims against a veterinary practice and its principals, including allegations of defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, fraud, and violations of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA).

The KD team was brought in to handle the defense after the case was transferred from another firm when it became clear that a jury trial would be necessary.

Following the no-liability verdict and final judgment obtained on behalf of our clients, the plaintiff now faces potential exposure for attorneys’ fees and costs due to an expired proposal for settlement.
