Betsy E. Gallagher

Of Counsel


Betsy Gallagher has concentrated on state and federal civil appeals and insurance coverage litigation. She has handled hundreds of appeals with published opinions in vast areas of civil practice and has appeared before all five of Florida's District Courts of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Florida and the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She also appears before trial courts, both state and federal. Ms. Gallagher is recognized by her peers as being at the top of her field and presently handles appeals in all areas of civil practice including tort liability, construction litigation, products liability, professional malpractice and insurance coverage. In 2013, she was added to Florida Trend's Legal Elite Hall of Fame. She was inducted based on the distinction of being named as a Florida Legal Elite every year for the past 10 years.

Regularly published, her articles have appeared in the Florida Bar Journal, Trial Advocate Quarterly (the publication of the Florida Defense Lawyers' Association) and "The Record" (the publication of the Appellate Section of the Florida Bar) as well as the University of Florida Law Review. She is presently on the Editorial Board for  the Trial Advocate Quarterly. Ms. Gallagher is a past member of the Executive Council and past Chair of both the CLE and the Outreach Committee for the Appellate Section of the Florida Bar. She is a past member of the Florida Bar's Appellate Rules Committee, the Florida Bar's Standing Committee on Continuing Legal Education and the Legal Needs of Children Committee and was also formerly on the Editorial Board of the Florida Bar Journal. Ms. Gallagher presently serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Florida College of Law where she is Chair of the Outreach Committee. She is also a lifetime member of the President's Council, University of Florida.
