Michelle Krone is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and serves as Co-Chair of Kubicki Draper’s Construction Practice Group. Since joining the firm in February 2000, Michelle has focused her practice exclusively on construction law, handling both insurance defense litigation and transactional matters.

She has successfully represented national and local general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in complex construction disputes. Her experience spans all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations and Chapter 558 proceedings, as well as product liability claims, disciplinary actions, and contract negotiations involving architects and engineers’ liability.

Michelle has developed significant expertise in OCIP/CCIP defense and has spent over a decade representing clients involved in captive insurance programs. While not a coverage attorney, she is highly knowledgeable in insurance products relevant to construction, including rectification coverage, builder’s risk, OPPI, subcontractor default insurance, excess coverage, and risk transfer/AI policies.

Her project portfolio includes high-value condominium developments, major hotel builds, and large-scale commercial projects such as sports arenas. Notably, Michelle played a key role in negotiating the contract for the renovation of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stadium and has been involved in the defense of unique structures like the Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral.

In addition to litigation, Michelle is well-versed in handling multi-party arbitrations and mediations. She is both a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator and a Qualified Arbitrator. Michelle frequently shares her expertise through continuing legal education presentations focused on construction law.

She holds a B.A. from Florida Atlantic University (1996) and earned her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law (1999).
