Lori Cottone serves as Of Counsel in the firm’s Miami office, where she brings decades of legal and claims-handling experience to her practice. She represents clients in matters involving automobile and motorized vehicle claims as well as real estate disputes, offering strategic insight grounded in years of litigation and insurance industry experience.
Lori earned her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1992 and has been a member of The Florida Bar since that time. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University, earned in 1987. Complementing her legal education, Lori obtained a Legal Assistant Certificate, providing her with a strong foundation in both the procedural and substantive aspects of litigation.
In addition to her litigation practice, Lori has extensive experience advising and supervising automobile claim adjusters in the management of claim files. She provides strategic oversight on complex coverage and liability issues and has been entrusted with authority to negotiate and resolve both PIP and liability claims in and out of litigation. Lori has also contributed to in-office roundtable discussions addressing evolving legal developments in automobile insurance.
Throughout her career, Lori has represented insurance companies in mediations, arbitrations, and trials, successfully resolving heavily contested and multi-claimant matters. She develops strategic approaches to claims ranging from straightforward disputes to complex, high-exposure cases and is highly skilled in negotiating and drafting comprehensive settlement agreements.
Her experience also includes hiring, managing, and overseeing outside litigation counsel in negligence, bad faith, and real estate matters. In these roles, Lori ensures efficient case progression while aligning legal strategy with business objectives and risk management considerations. She works closely with insurance claims departments and underwriters to deliver practical, results-oriented solutions.
Known for her pragmatic and solutions-driven approach, Lori provides clients with thoughtful analysis and strategic guidance tailored to their specific objectives. Her breadth of experience enables her to efficiently assess risk, navigate complex legal challenges, and advocate effectively on behalf of those she represents.
