Jonathan Chinchilla concentrates his practice on personal injury protection (PIP), automobile liability defense, and uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) matters. Drawing on experience from both the public and private sectors, he provides strategic, practical counsel to insurers throughout all stages of litigation.
Jonathan earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Sociology from Florida State University before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 2015. While in law school, he was an active member of the Mock Trial Team and served as President of the Student Bar Association, developing the advocacy and leadership skills that continue to shape his practice.
Jonathan began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender, representing clients in misdemeanor and felony matters across Pasco and Pinellas Counties. During that time, he gained extensive courtroom experience, trying more than 20 jury trials to verdict. He later transitioned to the insurance industry, serving as in-house counsel for a national automobile insurance carrier. In that role, he worked closely with claims professionals, providing legal guidance on a broad range of insurance defense matters and gaining valuable insight into the claims-handling process from the carrier’s perspective.
A longtime Florida resident, Jonathan was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, and moved to Dunedin as a young child. He has called the Tampa Bay area home ever since. Outside the office, Jonathan enjoys cooking, playing disc golf, and reading science fiction.
