Jim Rinaman primarily handles fire casualty and bodily injury claims, automobile, trucking, marine and medical claims, along with SIU-related cases. He earned his Juris Doctor from Florida State University in 1989 and, while in law school, participated in FSU’s summer study program at St. Edmund’s College of Law at Oxford University in Oxford, England.
Prior to law school, Jim obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida. After graduating from law school, he served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1990 to 1996. Following his military service, James built a long-standing insurance defense practice in Florida, gaining experience at established defense firms and later founding and managing his own insurance defense firm. He subsequently continued his practice with other well-respected insurance defense firms, bringing with him decades of litigation, trial, and firm leadership experience before joining the firm.
Jim is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association and the Florida Claims Defense Network, with which he has served on the board of directors since 2010. In addition to being admitted to the Florida Bar, he is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
Jim has frequently lectured on topics related to BI/Casualty and PIP claims fraud including for the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee and FDLA Liability Claims Conference, as well as the Florida Claims Defense Network. He has tried jury trials in both Circuit and County Courts throughout Florida.
