Christopher M. Thompkins focuses his practice in the areas of construction, including insurance defense litigation and transactional work. With extensive experience representing general contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals, Chris has handled a wide range of complex construction disputes. He has successfully defended clients in multi-million-dollar condominium and hotel projects, as well as in litigation related to the construction of single-family homes. Chris is also well-versed in bodily injury claims arising from construction matters.
Chris graduated from Florida State University with degrees in applied economics and multinational business. Following his undergraduate studies, he began working as a research associate for a national expert services firm that provided litigation support and expert witnesses in the fields of labor economics and statistics. His work on diverse cases from toxic torts to federal hiring practices, sparked his interest in pursuing a legal career.
He earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he was recognized for achieving the highest grades in trial practice, constitutional law, and employment law. During law school, Chris interned at the Tennessee Department of Labor and clerked at a civil litigation firm, advising on labor and employment matters.
After law school, Chris served as a public defender, honing his litigation skills and gaining invaluable courtroom experience. This experience, coupled with his time as both plaintiff and defense counsel in a civil litigation firm, has made him proficient in handling real estate, consumer, community association, and general civil litigation. Chris’ varied vast experience provides a unique and valuable perspective which is of great benefit to his clients.

Chris lives in Fort Myers with his wife, Ilaisaane, and 5 children. He also is a competitive bench presser holding the state record for the highest bench press in his division.
