Tom joins Kubicki Draper after several years of experience in both the public and private sector. Tom began his career at the Office of the Public Defender for the 20th Judicial Circuit serving as an assistant public defender in Lee and Collier Counties. This experience allowed Tom the opportunity to try several jury trials as lead counsel in both jurisdictions, gaining valuable insight into the climate and expectation of the local communities.
After almost five years of public service, Tom began working as an associate at a small Plaintiff’s personal injury firm in Cape Coral. Tom was responsible for all aspects of personal injury claims, from initial client consultation and retention through jury trial and appeal. Additionally, Tom was responsible for prosecution of Worker’s Compensation claims and Social Security Disability appeals while at the firm. He successfully appealed final orders granting Motions for Summary Judgment in Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal (see McNabb v. Bay Village Club Condo. Ass’n 216 So. 3d 688 (Fla. 2nd DCA 2017); McNabb v. Taylor Elevator Corp. 203 So. 3d 184 (Fla. 2nd DCA 2016).
As a former Plaintiff’s attorney, Tom provides his clients unique insights into the prosecution of personal injury claims. His experience allows him to quickly assess and evaluate the claim, stream line process, and effectively assess breaking points in Plaintiff’s case.
Tom moved to Southwest Florida from Cleveland, Ohio in 2008. His wife, Blair DeMinico, is the Legal Director of the Lee County Legal Aid Society.
