She began her legal career in 2005 with the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office prosecuting criminals for the State of Florida. While an Assistant State Attorney, Ms. Montoto had the opportunity to try more than 20 jury trials and numerous bench trials.

Ms. Montoto was born and raised in Gainesville, FL, where the majority of her family still resides. Although she enjoys visiting home as often as possible, she has also enjoyed becoming a part of the Tampa Bay community and plans to remain there.
